2010: one winter gallery

The only 2010 gallery was a set of 21 photos dated 12 January 2010, every one captioned simply "Winter 2010". Their content cannot be described, so this page records what the year meant for the project instead.

What the archive holds

The galleries are offline, and the surviving index lists January only, with 21 photos and no other month. Because the captions are all the same, nothing is claimed about what the photos showed. By then the Energy Centre and storage field had been running since 2007.

What the numbers said in 2010

The year is better remembered for results than for building. Heating results published in spring 2010 put the solar share at about 80 percent, a year ahead of schedule, up from 55 percent in the first year and 61 percent in the second. The improvement was attributed to operating changes rather than new equipment: less heat was sent to the houses, and the short-term tanks were drained and replumbed. A fuller summary is in the 2010 results digest.

Where 2010 fits

Ground was broken in 2005 and the system was operating by 2007, which makes 2010 the third full heating cycle. The design target was about 90 percent solar space heating. Later monitoring reported 97 percent by 2012 and 100 percent in 2015-16, as laid out in performance results. For the earlier building years, see the photo archive.

Quick answers

What was in the 2010 gallery?

Twenty-one photos from 12 January 2010, all captioned only "Winter 2010". Nothing further about their content can be stated.
