2007: finishing and opening day

By 2007 Drake Landing looked finished in its photo captions, and the community was opened on 13 September 2007 with the federal Minister of Natural Resources present. The 33 photos behind this page cover January, May and September.

Source note

The galleries (five visit dates) are no longer online. This page describes only what the captions said.

January

Four captions from 23 January show finished panels with flashing on the first garage row, seen from both ends. One notes that a bottom panel had lost its glass during flashing work and was waiting for a replacement. The work is explained on solar collection.

May

On 26 May captions listed solar electric panels on the roof of the Energy Centre, thermal panels on the second, third and fourth garage rows, and the third and fourth rows of houses. Four days later, 15 photos covered garages with panels, completed homes and four aerial shots of a community near completion.

September: the opening

Three photos from 9 September showed the finished site from above: homes, garages and the Energy Centre. On 13 September a ceremony was recorded in four photos, showing the minister with project partners, a speech, the presentation of a commemorative plaque with the Town of Okotoks mayor, and a tour of the Energy Centre with a Sterling Homes representative. The awards page follows the recognition that came next.

The Energy Centre operated for well over a decade afterwards. The results are in performance results, and the earlier building years are in 2006.
