The retired live data service
Drake Landing once published a Current Conditions dashboard on its website and in a phone app. The service was discontinued on 30 June 2019, so nothing on this page updates.
What it was
The dashboard let anyone watch the system working. It came as an HTML5 page for newer browsers and as a Flash version for older systems. Flash itself has since been retired across the web, which is one more reason the old pages cannot be run today.
The mobile app
A phone version was released for iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10, so a resident or a curious visitor could check conditions from anywhere. It was retired together with the web service in 2019.
What a viewer would have seen
The surviving pages do not list the individual readouts. The monthly reports used the same kind of data: sunlight on the collectors, heat moving into and out of the short-term tanks and the borehole field, and heat delivered to the district loop. Those measures, with real values, are on the performance results page.
After the shutdown
The old updates page announced the end of the live feed and pointed to company notices dated December 2020, November 2022, March 2023 and September 2023. Their contents could not be recovered. Heating was wound down from about 2020 and decommissioning began in 2024, but the exact end date and the current state of the equipment are not verified here. The Town of Okotoks and ATCO Gas can say more, and the contact page shows how to reach them.
Where to look instead
Reports that drew on the live data are described under publications, and the how it works page explains what the instruments were measuring.
